Black Bear Ursus americanus

Black Bear Identification

Maximum speed: 50 km/h

Vision: bears see colour

Hibernation: Up to 7 months in the north

Heart rate: 140 bpm during exertion, 66 bpm during sleep, 8-22 bpm in hibernation.

Body temperature: 1-7C during hibernation

Maximum age: At least 30 years in the wild, most die much younger
