Sei Whale Distribution & Migration

The sei whale is found around the world’s oceans outside of the polar seas. North Pacific sei whales are thought to migrate between warmer tropical waters in winter and cooler temperate ocean waters in summer but this species is not studied in any detail (Wilson and Duff 1999). Sei whales are seen off Scotland during May and October, and a few might stay all year round (Weir et al. 2001).
